The Indian Team for ICC World Cup 2011 has finally been announced. There are a few shocking dropouts and even more shocking inclusions but here's hoping that India gets back the Cup after 21 years.
The Team:
MS Dhoni
Sachin Tendulkar
Virender Sehwag
Gautam Gambhir
Yuvraj Singh
Yusuf Pathan
Virat Kohli
Suresh Raina
Harbhajan Singh
Ravindrachand Ashwin
Piyush Chawla
Zaheer Khan
Praveen Kumar
Munaf Patel
Ashish Nehra

Surprisingly, batsmen Rohit Sharma and lanky pacer Ishant Sharma have been left out of the squad. Ashish Nehra who has lately been in an average form has been included in the squad despite his high run rate and poor batting and fielding. An extra spinner in the form of Piyush Chawla was included even though he doen't have sufficient experince. With the like of part time but efficient spinners like Sehwag,Pathan,Yuvi,Raina and even Tendulkar, this is one pointless inclusion. Also, we have only one wicketkeeper, Dhoni. Looking at the rate at which the batsmen are getting injured it would be wiser to have included a standby keeper-batsmen like Dinesh Karthik. Choosing 6 batsmen was a good choice as it adds to the already existing strong batting line up.
Looking at the recent games, Team India is the top contender for winning the World Cup, and this is agreed by Legendary batsmen, Brian Lara.
Heres hoping that we do win the world cup because this might be the last one for the Best Cricketer the world has ever seen Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
